Most Essential Telescope Parts Usually Found In Most Of The Telescopes

April 5, 2008

As you know that there are different parts in all the different devices are it electronic or otherwise. In the same way there are many parts in a telescope. But then you should familiarize yourself to some of the most important parts are the tube that is made up of optical parts, which are kept aligned. Along with it there is also the focus knob that is placed on the back of the telescope. In addition to this there is an eyepiece that is placed near to the rear or back of the focal plane and this is the place where the light rays come together that makes up an image.

The finder scope is a tiny telescope complete in itself, which helps in finding the objects and which enables you to see a far greater area of the sky than that are possible with a main telescope. This is the most important part in a telescope is the finder because it enables the user to track down the object in space. And as you must have realized the importance of the finder, you will know that it is highly impossible to find objects at such a long distance without the help of the finder. Stars in the sky are centered with the help of its cross hairs and there are screws used for alignment that help in pointing in the same direction as the main telescope.

Another important part in a telescope is the telescope mounting which bears the tube assembly and this mount can be pointed in any direction in the sky. The way to do this is that you have to use an equatorial mounting in which the polar axis points at the North Celestial Pole and then you can follow the path of the stars by just rotating this axis either in the east or the westwards directions. Then there is declination axis or downward bend at ninety degrees to the polar axis, and then by rotating this axis the telescope can be turned either in the northward direction or the southward direction.

The telescope mounting sometimes has clams that locks the telescope mount and keeps them in alignment. There are also slow motions which can be used to turn the axes slowly as well as smoothly in order to help locate, keep track and follow the objects. There is yet another interesting part in the telescope that is found in the form of setting circles that helps locate objects with the help of the correct ascension or ascent and declination or descent.

To make the telescope move automatically from east to west in order to follow the motion of stars you could also prefer to have a motor drive as another essential part placed on the polar axis. But then before you decide to make full use of the telescope what you need is to fully understand the functioning of all the telescope parts. You could also go through the Operational Manual and Guide of the telescope where you could find details of the operations of all the correct ways of operating the telescope.

Most of the telescope parts comprising the telescope are generally connected to mechanical side and are operated by turning and twirling or twisting knobs and you will need to move them so that you can fix your telescope to one particular star and get a proper view of that star or for those matter distant objects.

Summary:

There are many parts in the making of a telescope but then you should know that there are some important parts that are a must for all those astronomy lovers. Some of the important parts that are there in the making up of the telescope are the clams, finder scope etc.
