The Basics Knowledge About Your Telescope
March 2, 2008
People are interested in astronomy these day; well this is really a good hobby to pursue. People think that it is an interesting field of science because they are able to see small and sometimes vague objects in space; well we should thank the invention of the telescope for having been the reason for people’s interest in this field of science. Seeing through the telescope far out into space has an thrill of its own you feel one with yourself when you go about exploring the unexplored vast skies. The stories told be people after watching the celestial bodies is so very fascinating that it sends a ripple of joy to the one who has actually seen the objects as well as the one who hears their narration of the vast and wonderful solar system and of the different planets.
As you well know that telescopes help you to see objects that are far off clearly which would have been impossible to be seen through our naked eyes. Because of the development of telescopes, astrophotography has also gained a lot of popularity. The reason behind this is that telescopes are now fitted with cameras on them and this helps the astronomers to capture the pictures which would have been impossible to be captured through an ordinary camera.
Amateurs in this field of astronomy usually prefer to use the traditional 35mm camera, though this camera does an almost clear job of capturing the objects or images in the atmosphere they are not as efficient as the ones that are attached to the telescope. And this is one of the main reasons why these telescopic cameras have gained a lot of popularity both in the camera world as well as in the telescope world.
You can attach the cameras to a telescope in three different ways. The first one is by a piggyback mount wherein the camera is tied into the tube through a bracket on the back of the telescopes or by a ring that clamps or holds it into place. After this the camera will use its own lens to take pictures allowing the telescopes to simply guide the photo shoot so that it will be accurate.
.
The second way by which you do this is by using a tube to create a “T” adapter. Herein the eyepiece of the telescopes is not used. Instead the camera is simply attached to the “prime focus” of telescopes. This method is effective if you want to take a picture of an item that is dim or for that matter there is no sufficient light focus on the object. However, this method does not work if you want to take pictures of big objects in the sky, such as the Orion Nebula.
The third and the final option is called the “focal coupling method.” It works best with digital cameras because both the eyepiece and the camera’s lens have to be set to action. Those who enjoy using their digital camera will actually prefer to use this method. Herein the eyepiece icon is coupled by the camera lenses. The camera is not laid onto the film plane here.
Over the period of time, cameras in telescopes have proved to be a great help when it comes to taking pictures of the universe. These pictures are then used to explain many an unanswered questions of the universe. Undoubtedly these cameras will continue to become famous as they really are great at taking pictures of astronomy.
Summary:
Telescope cameras have proved to be of a very great help for answering many an unanswered questions of the space and it is here to stay as long as man has a thirst to know more about the different aspects of our solar system.
Got something to say?
