Radio Astronomy – Radio Telescope – Basic Necessity
April 9, 2008
Want To watch Heavenly Bodies:
While using a telescope what you are using is your eyes to observe the heavenly bodies i.e. the stars, the planets and all that there is in our solar system in all its wondrous glory. What you are actually doing is seeing the reflection of light. That’s the main thing i.e. to say what vision is all about seeing the images that our eyes reflects.
Though there are many more things than just the reflection of light. And here is what radio telescopes come into picture. This radio telescope reads electromagnet radio waves that are emitted from satellites, space probes and other sources like the ET or Extra Terrestrial sources. These radio telescopes help the scientist to gain further knowledge about the space where the telescope would perhaps not be able to help. And that is the main reason why many a astronomers as well as people who search the skies for these UFO- Unidentified Flying Objects or in one word ufologist do all with a hope to see or discover something that have never been seen or identified before.
You may have seen many a houses having a large dish like thing on the roof tops
Well the radio telescopes resemble those types of large dish seen in many a homes. Some observations have one large dish and some have an entire array of dishes, all pointed upwards in the hopes of catching radio frequencies that will give us a greater understanding of space. These radio telescopes should be placed in such a way that they do not get any interference i.e. they should be placed away from the television stations, the radio stations and anywhere else radio waves are transmitted in order to get an unadulterated view of the radio waves emitted from space, there can not be any other radio waves in the area. And this is the reason why most radio telescopes are placed in locations far away from anything else.
As you know that we can see things through the telescope that would have been otherwise impossible to see through our naked eyes. These types of radio telescopes can reach further than those high-powered telescopes. With the use of radio telescopes, scientists are able to observe quasars, galaxies and other planets. These objects emit radioactivity, which is then picked up by the radio telescopes and sent back to the scientists for examination.
Ufologists also make use of the radio telescope to find unidentified flying objects.
The most well known instance of using these types of telescopes in the search for extraterrestrial life is with SETI, or the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence. Scientists at SETI hope that they will be able to accept a transmission from other worlds, all in the hopes of proving that intelligent life exists beyond the planet we know as Earth.
Whatever may be the reason, radio telescopes are going to stay for ages to come as they help scientist to look at other galaxies, for other forms of life in space and help further in their research to find answers to their thousands of questions some answered and some yet to be answered.
.
Summary:
Radio telescopes are telescopes that help scientists to find out all about the extra terrestrial objects that often go unnoticed even while viewing through a large powerful telescope these radio telescope have a radar that catches signals of what ever may pass through the area of coverage and thus help the scientist to get to know about the UFO and things like the extra terrestrial beings that are there in our solar system along with the desire to know more about our galaxies.
Got something to say?
